See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
Isaiah 60:2 NIV
See – Let us not be blind to the darkness around us. There is moral, emotional and spiritual darkness. Darkness that harbors immorality, grief, sadness, evil. People, victims of loneliness, abandonment, abuse, neglect, sexual predators, are found everywhere.
See – Let us open our eyes and see that the darkness can be dispelled with light.
Have we not the Light of the world in us? Have we not received Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord? Have we not the hope of glory? (Colossians 1:27)
We are the light that will dispel the darkness on this earth. God made us in His image and likeness, through His Son, Jesus, reconciled us to Him, and He gave us the Holy Spirit to empower us to live a life that honors Him and to show others the way.
Yes, the darkness is over the people, but we are the light and the Lord rises upon us and his glory appears over us.
What darkness have you ignored that you can shine a light on? What child could use your kindness, your caring, your mentoring? What brother or sister? What man or woman? Whom has God placed in your line of sight that is in darkness?
Heavenly Father, thank you for Jesus, the hope of glory, that is in me. Thank you for the Holy Spirit that bears His fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control in me.
Open my eyes that I may see where You want me to shine the light that is in me. Make me brave so that I will not hide my light and I will let my light shine before others, that they may see my good deeds and glorify You.
